Care Certificate Standard 1 is the first of the updated 16 Care Certificate standards (updated in 2025/2026) designed for health and social care workers across the UK. It provides a foundational overview of what is expected from you in your role so you can work safely, professionally, and confidently in care settings such as care homes, domiciliary care and community support. Standard 1 ensures that care staff clearly understand their duties, responsibilities and boundaries within their role. It sets out the essential knowledge, skills and behaviours that every worker must demonstrate from day one.
